Adam’s take on John Boehner’s Tea Party Like Speech

found on the Examiner.com

The economy is front of mind to everyone in the country. There are lots of attacks back and forth on whom to blame with fingers pointing in every direction. It’s no secret that the “summer of growth” has been a failure as we stay solidly level with where we started out. There are lots of talks about a “double-dip” and stagflation, and with the uncertainty in the markets we can predict anything but growth. While the Democrats in Congress and the White House are promoting their “spend money and rais taxes” agenda, they are quick to point out that Republicans only want to go back to the Bush years with lower taxes and deregulation. What John Boehner and many Republicans in Congress and running for Congress are putting forward, though, is something more along the lines of 1994 politics. It’s not a secret that the Republicans are drafting an updated “Contract with America” much like the bold and successful version from the Newt Gingrich/Dick Armey Congress. John’s speech at the City Club of Cleveland last week outlined key points that will most likely show up in this new contract.
The speech outlines his new, tea party like, plans on job growth and building the economy. He even goes as far as quoting John Kennedy in his speech saying; “an economy constrained by high tax rates will never produce enough revenue to balance the budget, just as it will never create enough jobs.”
This was a well known principal then and should be again today.
In his speech John also outlines his “better solutions” giving credit to Republicans like Paul Ryan, Dave Camp, Governor Bob McDonnell, and Governor Chris Christie. The point in the new “Contract with America”, or whatever they’ll end up calling it, and dropping these names is to show that the Republican Party is not just the “party of no” and that they are and have been putting forward good policy ideas that would jumpstart our economy and put us back to a path of being a fiscally responsible country.
