John Cornyn is a respected Dallas republican in the Senate that has done good, even great, things for Texas and the country. He is one elected official that most in the Tea Party can stand behind, that is until now. Cornyn’s latest actions have stirred feelings among Tea Party members leading the Dallas Tea Party to start a new campaign.
What did John do to start this uprising of criticism? Well it has nothing to do with Texas, but everything to do with the Tea Party. In Alaska the Tea Party has adamantly backed a mostly unknown candidate, Joe Miller, against the incumbent Republican Lisa Murkowski. The Senate primary was not expected to be a close race with almost everyone believing that Lisa Murkowski would run away with the nomination, even after Joe Miller was backed by the Tea Party and Sarah Palin. Election Day changed all that as now the race has become so close that Alaska is forced to go through the absentee ballots to find a winner.
Where does John Cornyn fit into this story of Alaska’s primary battle? Well, John Cornyn has made it his business to dispatch legal resources to help the Republican Incumbent save her seat. The Dallas Tea party says that John Cornyn has become well-known for openly supporting establishment candidates along the lines of Arlen Specter and Charlie Crist against conservative challengers along the lines of Pat Toomey and Marco Rubio. The Tea Party doesn’t have a direct hatred for all incumbents but doesn’t like the establishment that doesn’t promote the agenda of the Tea Party.
